Proven Seed announces registration of six new Pioneer canola hybrids for sale in Western Canada

Winnipeg, Manitoba
April 24, 2002

Six new canola hybrids developed by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., three with the Roundup Ready(R) trait, have received registration for sale in Western Canada. A limited supply of commercial seed for Pioneer(R) brand 45H21, a canola hybrid with the Roundup Ready trait, is available from
retailers now.

"Already this season we're seeing an excellent demand for this hybrid," says Bruce Harrison, Product and Sales Manager with Proven Seed. "Although registration came late in the season, sales are occurring faster than we had anticipated. This confirms for us that growers are ready for the latest generation of hybrid canola and the outstanding performance it delivers - particularly the potential for high yields."

In co-op trials, 45H21 out-yielded check varieties by 130 per cent and significantly out-yielded all open-pollinated varieties in the 2001 Local Performance Check(R) program.

In addition to this excellent yield potential, features of 45H21 include:

  • Medium-early maturity
  • Very good lodging resistance
  • R-rating for blackleg
  • Medium height
  • Very low green seed
  • Available through Proven Seed

Pioneer(R) brand canola is available exclusively through Proven Seed and Agricore United retailers.

Pioneer(R) is a registered trademark of Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.
Proven(R) Seed and Local Performance Check(R) are registered trademarks of United Grain Growers Limited.
