Stokes Seeds - moving to grow

December 5, 2002

Stokes Seeds Inc. recently relocated from Fredonia, NY to a new warehouse facility in Buffalo NY. Located on Walden Avenue, this new modern facility has 19,000 square feet of which 3,000 is a special temperature controlled seed warehouse. This move places Stokes near many essential services and closer to its’ Canadian partner which will expedite shipping between the two countries.

In September of this year, Stokes opened its’ new consolidated Canadian facility in Thorold, Ontario. The 74,000 square foot building amalgamates Stokes’ retail, administrative, commercial and warehouse operations formerly located in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Stokes’ third location in Vineland, NJ was relocated to a newer warehouse facility 2 years ago.

These 3 locations are linked together with a state-of-the-art computer system that integrates communications as well as inventory control. Each facility is strategically placed in Stokes’ geographic selling area; Buffalo, NY in central Northeastern U.S.A., Vineland, NJ accommodates the eastern seaboard and Thorold, ON covers Canada.

"Stokes Seeds has enjoyed substantial sales increases in the past few years and is now in the position to embrace continued growth" explains President Wayne Gale. "We have always had experienced, knowledgeable staff and now with these 3 new facilities we anticipate an increase in productivity and efficiency while accommodating future growth."

Founded in 1881, three generations of the Gale family have owned the company since 1925. Stokes is a principal seed supplier for over 40,000 greenhouse growers and commercial truck farmers in Canada and Northeastern U.S.A. Three regional catalogues, U.S., Canadian English and French Canadian are issued each year to both commercial customers and home gardeners.
