International seed company, Svalöf Weibull AB, is pleased to announce the amalgamation of its Canadian wholesale, retail, seed testing and processing units into one operating company.

The new company, SW Seed Canada Ltd., brings together the following brands and companies: Newfield Seeds, Promark Seed, Priority Lab Services, Wheat City Seeds and Riding Valley Agro. Through these operating units, SW Seed Canada is already established as one of Canada’s leading domestic and export seed marketers.

Combining these operations under one brand name creates a flexible, competitive, full-service alternative for customers.

“SW Seed Canada provides customers with a strong competitive option, driven by leading canola and forage products and relevant expertise,” said Gord Rettaler, the company’s Managing Director.

From its base in the heart of Canada’s seed production area, SW Seed Canada supplies Canadian retailers with canola hybrids, forages, peas and cereals. The company is a leader in exporting forage seed to foreign markets and provides international calibre seed processing and inspection services.

SW Seed Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of Svalöf Weibull AB, a global seed company headquartered in Sweden. International in scope and focused on Canada, the company provides an alternative to the integrated seed and chemical distribution networks that dominate today’s market.

Svalöf Weibull AB, has a long tradition of bringing world class genetics to Canadian producers. In the late 1980’s, the heritage companies, Svalöf and Weibulls, transformed Canadian canola production with the introduction of new canola varieties offering breakthrough yield and disease resistance. A string of successful products led to a position as market share leader throughout most of the 1990’s.

“With our expanding product line-up, operational strength and international roots, SW Seed Canada is poised to return to a market leadership position. We have a long tradition and a great future,” added Rettaler.
