Agricultural advances like the NK®
Brand Agrisure™ CB trait, herbicide-tolerant hybrids and seed
treatment provide growers with more yield and better choices. To
address this, NK Brand Seeds
has implemented two new systems for the 2006 growing season.
With easy-to-read color-coded bag
tag labels and simplified seed sizes, NK Brand Seeds provides
growers added convenience and information while ordering,
planting and managing their seed inventory.
“Many growers plant a combination
of hybrids to address a wide range of needs, production
challenges and refuge requirements. However, that can make
managing crops a challenge,” said John Harker, NK Brand Seeds
Technical Information Manager. “Our new bag tag labeling system
provides clear, concise details for simplified handling and
management. It minimizes the risk of mixing up seed and prevents
planting and herbicide spraying errors, resulting in more
efficient use of our products.”
NK Brand offers hybrids with the
popular Agrisure CB (European corn borer resistant) trait, as
well as several options for herbicide flexibility in corn,
including Agrisure GT (glyphosate tolerance), LibertyLink®
technology (Liberty® herbicide resistance) and the CLEARFIELD®
System.
Now, each of these NK Brand hybrid
choices are clearly identified with color-coded bag tags for
easier handling:
-
Yellow – tolerance to
glyphosate-based herbicides
-
Blue – Liberty herbicide
resistance
-
Orange – tolerance to
imidazalinone, CLEARFIELD Production System
-
Multi-color – hybrids with
tolerance to more than one type of herbicide will feature a
multi-color tag as appropriate.
Every bag of NK Brand hybrids with
Agrisure GT, LibertyLink technology or the CLEARFIELD System is
clearly labeled with a large, bold “Herbicide Tolerant” band on
the NK Brand bag, plus an imprinted tear strip. In addition,
information for treated hybrids is also plainly marked on each
bag and tag. Tags for Agrisure CB hybrids also note insect
resistance information.
“To make ordering and planting
even more convenient, NK Brand has also simplified its seed size
system,” Harker added. “The updated system continues to grade
flats and rounds with a consistent kernel count in each bag, but
eliminates very heavy bag weights,
double bags of large seed and extremely small seed. To
ensure optimum planting accuracy, planter setting
recommendations are provided on every bag.
“We want our customers to have
better choices and an efficient way to manage those choices for
the way they farm,” Harker said. “Now with easier to identify
packaging and uniform seed sizes, they can manage their seed
selections better with less worries and risk.”
