seed industry having spent eleven years with University of
Missouri Foundation Seed before founding Wehmeyer Seed in 1995.
He added, “One of the biggest changes we see in the seed
industry is the technology coming to the farm – not in
fertilizer or chemicals, but from the seed. With AgVenture, we
will have the greatest access to genetics and technology
resources in the industry. It will allow us to identify what
works best with farmers here and provide them with the seed they
need to fit their farms, their fields.”
Wehmeyer Seed Sales Manager Mark Beer is a native of Mascoutah
and has been employed there since 2000. “With AgVenture, we will
be offering top-level genetics on multiple platforms. We’ll be
selling AgVenture® brand corn, soybeans and alfalfa across 16
counties in Southwestern Illinois from St Louis, Missouri to
Paducah, Kentucky. We’re very pleased to be able to deliver the
best technology to growers in a very customer friendly manner.”
Previously, the company had been providing retail sales for two
other seed companies. They will continue to offer proprietary
wheat products to growers.
AgVenture Vice President Sales and Marketing, Jim Groepper said,
“Wehmeyer Seed is committed to working hard and working smart
for their growers. We’re confident in their ability to deliver
the right seed solutions to growers and positively impact their
growers’ profitability.”
