Western Iowa’s Hobart Brothers
Seed Company, of Lake City, Iowa today announces it has joined
the nation’s largest network of independently owned and operated
regional seed companies,
AgVenture, Inc. (AVI). The company will now be known as
AgVenture Hobart Brothers Seed Company. Owner, Jason Phillips
said the new agreement goes into effect immediately, and
AgVenture Hobart Brothers Seed Company will begin marketing
AgVenture® brand corn, soybeans and alfalfa to growers across 17
western and southwestern Iowa counties.
Hobart Brothers seed was family owned and operated since 1948.
Phillips purchased the company in 2004. He stated, “Joining
AgVenture allows us greater and broader access to seed genetics
and technologies than anyone out there. This is an excellent
growth move for Hobart. It allows us to remain independent while
providing Iowa corn growers with access to all three major crop
technology providers.”
Phillips brings a wealth of seed industry knowledge and
direction to the company with 17 years of seed business and
leadership experience. He noted that AgVenture is the only
company with access to the latest and most advanced technologies
from the largest and most successful tech providers in the seed
industry – including GreenLeaf, LLC, Monsanto and Dow
AgroSciences.
Phillips continued, “We look forward to combining that unmatched
genetics and technology access with our experience and expertise
in seed production. The ultimate outcome is AgVenture Hobart
Seed’s development and delivery of a broader portfolio of seed
products that perform in our specific soil types, pest patterns,
cropping systems and maturity ranges in western and southwestern
Iowa.”
AVI Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Jim Groepper said,
