Dr Erling Fimland is new temporary director at the Nordic Gene Bank

Due to health problems of NGB director Dr Bent Skovmand, a temporary director has been appointed at the Nordic Gene Bank.

Dr Erling Fimland (Norway) will assume the position of temporary director from the 15th of January 2007. Dr. Fimland has been the director of the Nordic Gene Bank Farm Animals (NGH) and has a solid experience of Nordic work and genetics. Dr. Fimland will continue as the director of NGH during his time at NGB. Dr. Fimland can be contacted on e-mail : erling.fimland@nordgen.org 

Erling has a Masters (Cand. agric.) and Doctorate (Dr. agric.) degree from the Agricultural University of Norway (NLH). His dissertation from 1976 was in the field of Animal Genetics. He has a wide range of experience from research, business-related knowledge application and management of trade organizations and research institutes. Erling has experience from numerous farm animal species, ranging from cattle, sheep, fur-bearing animals to several farmed fish species.

He has been employed by NGH since 01 November 1998 and NGB from the 15th of January 2007.
