An updated "Sunflower Production"
guide is available through the
North Dakota State
University Agriculture Communication Department's Web site
at
http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs, by calling (701) 231-7882 or
e-mail at
dctr@ndsuext.nodak.edu.
The guide is a revision of the "Sunflower Production and
Marketing Bulletin" published in 1975 and revised in 1978,
1985 and 1994. Interest and knowledge about sunflower production
has greatly increased through the years. This publication is
directed primarily to the commercial production of sunflowers,
not to marketing and processing.
The guide was edited and compiled by Duane Berglund, former NDSU
Extension Service agronomist and professor emeritus. More than
20 researchers and staff from the North Dakota Agricultural
Experiment Station and NDSU Extension Service contributed
material to update the guide.
Major topics include:
- U.S. and world production
- Hybrid selection and
production practices
- Pest management
- Hail injury
- Herbicide drift and
chemical residue
- Harvesting
- Drying and storage
- Feeding value of sunflower
products in beef cattle diets
- U.S. grades and standards
- Other information sources
The guide is directed primarily
toward sunflower production in the northern Great Plains, but
much of the information is relevant to other production areas.
The cost of the guide is $14.95, which includes shipping and
handling. |
