FOSS announces the new Infratec™ 1241 Grain and Flour analyser, an updated solution providing new levels of analysis functionality for businesses at the front of grain and flour analysis while also extending the advantages of near infrared analysis to any type of operation.

For evolving demands

N ew measurement facilities offered by Infratec help to improve analysis efficiency as receiving sites are increasingly required to handle a higher intake from larger catchment areas.

Throughput is improved by 25% and new levels of usability make it even simpler to perform valid analysis for various sample types. Other developments include a broader wavelength for analysis of colour in grain and flour, allowing, for example, carotene levels in durum wheat to be analysed for that all-important yellowness required by increasingly discerning customers.

Communication technology makes it simple to transfer data to or from the instrument and to communicate with a LIMS system. The instrument can also be controlled remotely via a PC.

For any type of operation

A range of specific calibration and parameter options are now available as an alternative to the standard Infratec package – opening up a new flexible way to access powerful Infratec analysis. For instance, a small flour mill might choose to start with wheat flour analysis. More products such as whole wheat can be added later as the quality and process efficiency advantages of near infrared (NIR) analysis are realised in the form of improved profit.

The options also suit users with greater analysis demands such as research laboratories working on breeding programs who can now choose a more flexible system solution to suit their specific needs.

The standard Infratec package is still available, unchanged.

Infrared for everyone

For decades, FOSS has strived to make near Infrared analysis accessible to everyone in the grain industry. The new Infratec is just the latest of many milestones achieved over the years, including the development of ready to use calibrations, standardized instruments, networking capability and the worldwide availability of qualified support staff .

The Infratec 1241 is recognized as a standard for determining key parameters of whole-wheat, barley and other grain types in less than one minute. It is also a proven solution for analysing key parameters of flour. Thousands of Infratec instruments have been connected in networks ensuring consistent results across grain receiving sites, even when they are located hundreds of kilometres apart. Ready-to-use calibrations for Infratec are in use in all major grain producing countries and Infratec results are used in quality and breeding programmes.
