EMD Crop BioScience announces the promotions of Chuck Broughton and Michael Kereluik

Chuck Broughton has been named the North American Marketing Manager for soybean, peanut, and cotton products. In his new role, Broughton will develop the marketing plans for EMD Crop BioScience soybean, peanut, and cotton product lines for North America. Broughton brings twenty plus years of successful work experience in the agriculture industry, from new market development to agricultural sales.

“Chuck’s sales expertise and customer focus gives a unique perspective and skill set that will add value to our marketing team,” says Paul Schmidt, President of EMD Crop BioScience Inc. “We have aggressive growth plans and intend to capitalize on the strong momentum achieved with our Optimize® LCO Promoter Technology®, and Chuck will play a lead role in this strategy,” states Schmidt.

As the Canadian Sales Manager, Michael Kereluik will be responsible for managing the sales team, sales activities, and increasing brand awareness of leading EMD products like Cell-Tech®, Nitrastik®, and Soil Implant® in Canada. Kereluik brings 10 plus years of successful work experience in the agriculture industry into his new role. He previously worked in the seed industry with SW Seed Canada Ltd. and most recently as a Sales Representative in the Western Prairies with EMD.

“Both Chuck and Michael are excited about their new positions and opportunities. The EMD sales and marketing teams are working continuously to represent exceptional value for our growers, dealers, and distributors. The teams are looking forward to launch future value added and yield enhancing EMD products for our growers in North America,” says Schmidt.

Originally founded as the Nitragin Company in 1898 after a Milwaukee entrepreneur purchased rights to a commercial process for the production of nitrogen-fixing rhizobia, Nitragin remained privately owned until 1982. In 1991 Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany purchased the business. Now headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, EMD Crop BioScience is committed to advancing crop-enhancing technologies and making these products available to growers worldwide.

Merck is a global pharmaceutical and chemical company with total revenues of € 7.1 billion in 2007, a history that began in 1668, and a future shaped by 31,681 employees in 60 countries. Its success is characterized by innovations from entrepreneurial employees. Merck's operating activities come under the umbrella of Merck KGaA, in which the Merck family holds an approximately 70% interest and free shareholders own the remaining approximately 30%. In 1917 the U.S. subsidiary Merck & Co. was expropriated and has been an independent company ever since.
