DNAStar, Inc., a leading developer and supplier of
bioinformatics software, today announced that it has finalized
an agreement with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)
for the supply of the company’s Lasergene sequence analysis
software. GSA is the organization within the US Government
charged with providing products and services to support the work
of many government agencies throughout the country. Under terms
of the agreement, scientists who are authorized to purchase
through GSA will be able to expedite the purchase of selected
Lasergene sequence analysis software configurations at uniform,
favorable terms by taking advantage of the US Government’s
purchasing capability. The contract is for a period of 5 years.
Lasergene is a comprehensive, easy to use suite of tools for
molecular biologists and geneticists used primarily in the
assembly and analysis of DNA and protein sequences. It has been
sold in over 65 countries worldwide.
A spokesman for DNASTAR indicated that “DNASTAR has many
customers for its software in various US Government facilities.
This agreement with GSA will allow US Government customers to
make purchases much easier since pre-determined terms have been
established through the contract. Lasergene’s breadth of
capabilities, flexibility and ongoing updates to address changes
in sequencing requirements make it an excellent choice for any
research laboratory where DNA sequencing is performed. We are
increasingly seeing customers from US Government facilities
choose Lasergene as the platform on which to base their future
genomic research activities due to its versatility.”
DNASTAR has developed and marketed software for more than 25
years to increase molecular biologists’ productivity. Currently,
DNASTAR produces Lasergene, a sequence analysis software suite;
SeqMan NGen, an assembly tool for Next Generation Sequencing
applications, GenVision, a data visualization software
application; and ArrayStar, a microarray gene expression
visualization tool. |
