Syngenta Crop Protection Canada launches Foundation Acre website to help corn growers maximize yield potential

.

Guelph, Ontario, Canada
March 16, 2009

Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, Inc has announced the launch of the ‘Foundation Acre – No Field Left Behind™ ’ website. The new website is an educational tool that will help corn growers maximize yields by utilizing the Foundation Acre approach – a technique that involves the application of Primextra® II Magnum® to prevent weeds during the early stages of the corn seedlings development.

The Foundation Acre is based on the revolutionary research conducted by Dr. Clarence Swanton, Professor in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph, which shows that corn seedlings can detect the presence of weeds immediately upon emergence, and the perceived competition can alter the crop’s growth pattern, directly impacting yield.

“Dr. Swanton’s research proves that early weed prevention is important for healthy corn production and should be part of a comprehensive yield management program,” says Nathan Klages, Crop Manager, Horticulture Corn and Bean with Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, Inc. “The Foundation Acre website provides growers with the information they need to help maximize their yields by preventing weeds that can prohibit the crop’s optimal development.”

The new Foundation Acre website provides growers with the most recent information about Dr. Swanton’s research including interviews with Dr. Swanton, testimonials from corn growers who have maximized their yields by using the Foundation Acre and recommendations for applying the Foundation Acre on your farm.

Foundation Acre is part of the new Syngenta ‘No Field Left Behind’ marketing campaign aimed at educating growers in Eastern Canada about the best practices for corn production.
