Agricore’s seed business manager Bob Hiebert says Agricore will stand behind the canola it sells whether it’s
conventional or GM. Agricore’s grain marketing manager Randy Cook says farmers should look into pricing options now to get the best deal for whatever type of canola they plan to grow.
Hiebert says Agricore recognizes that farmers have many canola seed varieties to choose from this spring. He says that whatever type of canola a farmer decides to grow, Agricore will buy it, subject to sales. Hiebert says Agricore is secure in the science of the new seed technology and stands behind the products it recommends and sells.
Cook is confident there will be buyers for GM canola this year. He says Agricore’s major markets for canola are accepting all varieties unconditionally. Cook says Agricore has a full range of delivery programs for canola, both cash and futures, that farmers can tap into when they choose to be in the market.
Agricore staff at any agro-centre will provide more information to help canola growers choose the right varieties and inputs for their operations. Grain marketing staff at Agricore elevators will assist farmers in choosing pricing options.
Agricore is the Canadian, farmer-owned agri-business created in 1998 by the merger of Manitoba Pool Elevators and Alberta Pool. Agricore provides fully integrated grain and special crops marketing and handling services through its prairie-wide network of elevators and specialized processing plants. Agricore also handles a full range of agronomic inputs, supplies and services through retail outlets across western Canada.
