Technico Pty Ltd. received the agribusiness section of the Australian Technology Award. The award was presented to the Managing Director of Technico, David MacDonald at a ceremony last night. The Australian Technology Award is organised by Technology Transactions and Price Waterhouse. The agribusiness award gives recognition to the international commercialisation of Technico’s potato seed technology.

Technico is an horticultural technology company which has achieved a substantial improvement in the economics of production of potato seed. This breakthrough increases speed to market of new seed by many years.

Technico has completed field trials throughout Australia, Asia and the US. It has scaled up its
seed production capability and has built a manufacturing facility in Australia. Its licensee for the potato crisp market, PepsiCo, has built manufacturing facilities in the US and Mexico. Technico has recently begun building another production facility in China and continues in setting up joint ventures at a number of other locations in Asia.
