American Cyanamid Company and Horizon Ag, LLC have signed an agreement for development, marketing and support in the U.S. for new imidazolinone herbicide tolerant rice varieties.

Under the agreement, Horizon will produce commercial quantities of the new seed for distribution
and marketing through its Orygen(TM) Seed Marketing System. These new patented varieties
will be tolerant to Cyanamid's imidazolinone herbicides. This herbicide tolerance will provide
growers unsurpassed season long weed control, flexibility in herbicide application, cultural
practices and water management, resulting in increased potential for higher yields and net return.

The Cyanamid/Horizon agreement provides an innovative approach to meet the challenges
regarding the integration of public rice seed varieties and private patented technology, and the
marketing of value-added rice seed to assure proper stewardship and technology protection.

Horizon Ag, LLC is a joint venture of a group of experienced seed companies with locations in
the mid-South and California. Horizon developed its Orygen(TM) seed system to coordinate the
distribution of advanced seed lines through quality rice producers, processors, and seed dealers.
Although Horizon will serve as exclusive licensee of Cyanamid, these new herbicide tolerant seed
lines will be made widely available to all authorized producers, processors, and seed dealers.

The Horizon/Cyanamid agreement is one of the most recent efforts by Cyanamid and
collaborators to develop and market herbicide tolerant crops. Cyanamid was the first to market a
herbicide tolerant crop with the release of imidazolinone tolerant corn in 1992, followed by
imidazolinone tolerant canola, known as SMART(TM) canola in Canada, in 1995.
