DEKALB
Genetics Corporation is excited to announce the introduction of an additional 44 new
seed products for 1999. The new members to DEKALB's seed lineup are in addition to 24
previously announced Roundup Ready® corn, YieldGard® insect protected corn and
quality-trait corn products. The 68 new seed products include: Eleven new conventional
corn hybrids, eleven new Roundup Ready corn hybrids, eleven new DEKALBt® hybrids, one
Roundup Ready/YieldGard stacked- trait corn hybrid, two new high oil corn hybrids, two new
waxy corn hybrids and one new white corn hybrid, all in the 80 to 119 day relative
maturity.
There are 28 new Group 0 to Group five soybean lineup additions. These include thirteen
Roundup Ready Soybean varieties, five Roundup Ready varieties with cyst nematode
resistance, one STS(TM) variety, three Roundup Ready/STS stacked trait varieties, two cyst
nematode varieties and four non-trait varieties. DEKALB is also releasing new sorghum and
NuSun(TM) high oleic sunflower hybrids.
"Our research team is doing exactly what the DEKALB mission statement calls for,
providing
customers with quality products and services to increase their productivity and
profitability,''
said Mark Herrmann, director of the corn marketing team. "The productivity of both
our
conventional breeding and biotechnology research programs continues to push the
performance
envelope by introducing new elite germplasm combined with the latest biotechnology
options.''
"The 1999 class of DEKALB elite soybeans is an exciting new generation that is
available in a
wide range of maturities and includes multiple trait varieties,'' said Bob Hankins,
soybean
product manager. ``With more choices, our customers have more options to meet their
specific
needs, in addition to providing greater value and agronomic performance.''
The products of years of research and field testing will be available to growers this
spring as
DEKALB introduces these new seed products to its lineup. These new seed products provide
growers with stronger offensive and defensive traits, as well as flexible options to
combat weeds
and insects that can significantly lower yields and reduce profitability.
