The DEKALB brand announces 25 new corn hybrids and 21 new soybean varieties available for the 2000 growing season. Leading this year's lineup are 12 new YieldGard® corn hybrids, in the 86-to 114-day maturity range, and 15 Roundup Ready® soybean varieties, in the early II to late V maturity groups. Additionally, a new sorghum hybrid and a NuSun™ sunflower hybrid join the DEKALB lineup. DEKALB is also proud to introduce DEKALB brand Roundup Ready® canola - the brand's first offering of canola seed in the United States.

Corn Hybrids

Of the 25 new corn hybrids, 12 are enhanced with YieldGard technology. YieldGard offers season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. These hybrids offer yield protection against economic losses due to insect feeding and dropped ears.

Hybrid Number: DK 307 80-Day Relative Maturity

This early flowering hybrid offers very good stalk strength and drought tolerance. DK 307 also has
excellent emergence root strength and seedling growth rate. A good early planting choice for both grain and silage. 

Hybrid Number: DKC 36-71 (YG) 86-Day Relative Maturity 

Enhanced with YieldGard, this hybrid displays season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. Features excellent root strength, seedling growth rate and emergence. Very good drought tolerance and drydown. Manage similar to DK 355.

Hybrid Number: DKC 42-22 (YG) 92-Day Relative Maturity

This hybrid is enhanced with YieldGard, which offers season-long resistance to European and
southwestern corn borer. DKC44-22 is widely adapted to all soil types and features excellent
emergence, seedling vigor and root strength. Manage similar to DK 427. 

Hybrid Number: DKC44-42 (YG) 94-Day Relative Maturity

Widely adapted to all soil types and plant populations. Hybrid has excellent emergence, seeding growth rate, root strength and drought tolerance. DKC44-22 is enhanced with YieldGard, which offers season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. Manage similar to DK 440.

Hybrid Number: DK 449WX 94-Day Relative Maturity 

This waxy hybrid adapts to a wide population range. Its excellent standability and ear retention allows harvest flexibility. DK 449WX features excellent stalk strength and emergence. 

Hybrid Number: DKC47-72 (YG) 97-Day Relative Maturity 

Enhanced with YieldGard, this hybrid displays season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. Adapted to all soils, including those poorly drained. Excellent root strength and excellent choice for grain or silage. Manage similar to DK 477. 

Hybrid Number: DKC49-92 (YG) 99-Day Relative Maturity

This hybrid is enhanced with YieldGard, which offers season-long resistance to European and
southwestern corn borer. Features good performance at all population levels and is stable across all soil types. Manage similar to DK 493. 

Hybrid Number: DK 493WX 99-Day Relative Maturity

This waxy hybrid features excellent drought tolerance and drydown. DK 493WX has very good
emergence, stalk strength and is adapted to all crop rotations. 

Hybrid Number: DK 507 100-Day Relative Maturity

This hybrid features big, girthy ears with the potential to flex. It is widely adapted to all tillage methods and crop rotations. DK 507 also features excellent root strength and very good emergence, drydown and drought tolerance.

Hybrid Number: DK 525BtY 102-Day Relative Maturity

Enhanced with YieldGard, this hybrid displays season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. Excellent root strength, seedling growth rate and test weight. Very good drought tolerance and stalk strength.

Hybrid Number: DKC53-32 (YG) 103-Day Relative Maturity

This hybrid is an excellent choice for corn on corn and minimum- and no-till situations. DKC53-32 is enhanced with YieldGard, which offers season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. Manage similar to DK 537.

Hybrid Number: DK 539 103-Day Relative Maturity

DK 539 is a good choice for both grain and silage and produces excellent test weight grain. This hybrid offers very good emergence and seedling vigor and has a good resistance to foliar disease.

This early flowering hybrid contains YieldGard, which offers built-in resistance to European and
southwestern corn borer. It is stable across all soil types and a good choice for early planting.

Hybrid Number: DK 567 106-Day Relative Maturity

This hybrid has excellent seedling vigor in all tillage types, as well as superior disease resistance and excellent staygreen. The test weight of DK 567 ranks as very good.

Hybrid Number: DK 579 107-Day Relative Maturity

Along with excellent seedling vigor and very good emergence, DK 579 performs consistently across many environments. It also offers a very good disease package and an excellent test weight grain.

This hybrid features YieldGard, which offers season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. It performs consistently across many environments, and features excellent test weight grain and seedling vigor. Manage similar to DK 579. 

Hybrid Number: DKC58-52 (YG) 108-Day Relative Maturity

DKC58-52 contains YieldGard, which offers season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. This hybrid has very good seedling vigor, standability, plant health and test weight. Manage similar to DK 585.

Hybrid Number: DK 604WX 110-Day Relative Maturity 

This waxy hybrid offers very good northern corn leaf blight and anthracnose leaf blight resistance, and is adaptable to all tillage practices. Features excellent plant intactness and fast early-season growth. 

Hybrid Number: DK 611 111-Day Relative Maturity

DK 611 is widely adapted to all tillage methods and crop rotations. Offers excellent seedling vigor,
emergence and very good test weight. Displays good tip fill on ears. 

Hybrid Number: DK 621TC 112-Day Relative Maturity

This early flowering and widely adapted high oil hybrid is consistent in a wide range of environments. DK 621TC also performs well as a late-season hybrid in earlier relative maturity zones.

Hybrid Number: DKC63-22 (YG) 113-Day Relative Maturity 

This hybrid delivers high yields across all soil types and management practices. Enhanced with
YieldGard, which confers season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. Very good grain quality. Manage similar to DK 632.

This hybrid is a good choice for early planting or reduced tillage. DK 647BtY has been enhanced with YieldGard, which offers season-long resistance to European and southwestern corn borer. 

Hybrid Number: DK 650 115-Day Relative Maturity

Displays excellent emergence for reduced tillage or early planting. DK 650 offers very good stalk
strength, root strength, test weight, and grain maturity, along with excellent staygreen.

Hybrid Number: DK 655 115-Day Relative Maturity

DK 655 features excellent test weight and very good emergence. This hybrid offers very good resistance to anthracnose leaf blight, and has good seedling growth rate and drought tolerance. 

Hybrid Number: DK 697 119-Day Relative Maturity 

This hybrid has excellent emergence, stalk and root strength. DK 697 features excellent resistance to anthracnose leaf blight, northern corn leaf blight 2 and southern corn leaf blight. 

Soybean Varieties

Roundup Ready soybeans make up 15 of the 21 new varieties and account for nearly 80 percent of the soybean lineup. DEKALB brand Roundup Ready soybean varieties contain the Monsanto Roundup Ready gene, which allows over-the-top application of Roundup Ultra® herbicide for broad-spectrum weed control. 

Variety Number: CX 007 Early 0 Maturity Group

Performs best in medium to heavy soil texture. This variety features excellent emergence, seedling vigor and standability. Adapted to 30-inch and narrower row widths.

Variety Number: CX 072 Mid/Late 0 Maturity Group

Offers Multi-race Phytophthora root rot tolerance. CX 072 has excellent emergence and standability. This variety features very good iron chlorosis and white mold resistance.

Variety Number: CX 085RR Late 0 Maturity Group 

This variety contains the Roundup Ready gene, allowing over-the-top application of Roundup Ultra
herbicide for broad spectrum control. Features excellent emergence, seedling vigor and standability. Performs best in medium to heavy soils and 30" rows and narrower. 

Variety Number: CX 150RR Mid I Maturity Group

CX150RR is a tall variety with excellent standability, emergence and seedling vigor. Enhanced with the Roundup Ready gene, allowing over-the-top application of Roundup Ultra herbicide for broad spectrum control. It offers very good brown stem rot resistance and excellent no-till adaptability.

This sunflower is a NuSun hybrid, producing a mid-oleic oil for which growers can receive premium prices. DK 3872NS offers very good standability and quick canopy for early-season weed suppression. Excellent foliar disease package and drydown.
