September 28, 1999Great Lakes Hybrids is putting the results of their
1999 corn test plots on the Internet for the world to see.
"We know our hybrids have outstanding agronomic performance characteristics,"
says Frank Hardimon, corn product manager. "By putting complete plot yield results on
the Internet, farmers will be able to compare hybrid performance over a wide area. This is
complete, unbiased test plot information. All plots received by our research department
(which meet our criteria as fair, independent tests) will be included on our website. We
want farmers to know the real story of field performance: win, lose or draw."
"For the past three years, we have been featuring selected plot data on our website,
but with new technology and faster connection speeds, it allows us to publish a greater
amount of data," says Clint Hawks, marketing communications manager for Great Lakes
Hybrids. "Our goal is to give farmers as much credible and unbiased information to
aid their corn and soybean product decisions. Also, farmers can also see the individual
plot conditions, as well as yield, moisture and value per acre for each product."
To keep the page sizes at tolerable dowload time levels, data is updated daily and plots
may not be on the site for more than a few days to as long as a week. Set your bookmarks
to your state's page and check back daily for new information throughout the fall.
GLH President Mike Stephenson adds, "Today's farmers have many questions, especially
concerning yield and performance of GEO products. The testing data on our website can help
them make more knowledgeable decisions based on product performance."
Individual product data pages will feature 1999 yield data shortly after harvest is
finished for this year.
