Many years ago,
J.H. Williams & Sons began exporting grass seed to another
family seed company in the U.S. For over 35 years, the
relationship between J.H.
Williams & Pennington Seed has grown and flourished as
well as the companies themselves.
Then a few years
ago, Pennington Seed,
Inc. became a publicly held corporation with divisions
operating in all of the primary grass seed production areas of
the U.S. Along with these changes came a renewed interest in
expanding and increasing the presence of their products around
the world. Meanwhile, J.H. Williams was keen on re-establishing
the turf seed operations and made a commitment to promote and
market a line of improved varieties from Pennington Seed. Since
then, both companies continue to trade with each other whilst
still trading with other companies domestically and
internationally.
In a rather
unique effort to continue working together whilst still reaching
each company’s separate goals, Pennington Seed approached the
company Williams for assistance in opening their first overseas
office. The new Pennington Seed operation is known as Pennington
Seed, Inc. – Australia. The new office is located in the J.H.
Williams Seed Division building on the Pacific Highway, across
from the Tweed River in Murwillumbah.

Inc. – Australia is an entity of Pennington Seed.
The primary
function and goal of Pennington Seed, Inc. – Australia is to
increase market awareness and usage of the Pennington family of
proprietary warm season and cool season grass varieties
throughout Australia and Southeast Asia.
Pennington Seed, Inc.
– Australia will work in cooperation with established
Pennington Seed, Inc. distributors and members of the
professional turfgrass industry in the region to achieve this
goal. |

 Brenda
Dossey has been named director of Pennington Seed, Inc. –
Australia. She
has been with Pennington Seed since 1989, most recently serving
as Vice President of Sales for Pennington’s Seeds West
division located in Arizona and California. An Arizona native,
Ms. Dossey joined the seed industry over 20 years ago as a
university intern with Valley Seed Company, Phoenix, Arizona.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy and Plant
Genetics from the University of Arizona with a Certificate of
Honors in Plant Science and graduate studies in Plant Genetics.
Since joining
Pennington Seed in 1989, Brenda’s specialty and primary
emphasis has been proprietary turfgrass variety marketing and
sales in the U.S. and abroad. In addition to her
responsibilities at Pennington Seed, she has served as the
Legislative Committee Chairman, Secretary and Vice President for
the American Seed Trade Association Lawn Seed Committee, and has
written articles about turfgrass culture and variety development
for publication in various agriculture and turf industry
publications.
