Free updated guides help source better produce
Oxnard, California
March 2, 2000

The 2000 editions of Asgrow Vegetable Seeds' Snap Bean and Onion Category Management reports are now available for free to produce handlers and retailers.

Given the vast array of products, growing regions and availability dates, handlers can have a difficult time selecting the best products, according to Leo Zanoni, director of produce marketing for Asgrow, a leading developer of new vegetable and melon varieties. "In response, industry members have turned to category management to ensure that they can meet the needs of
their customers," he explained.

To help industry members identify varieties and types with the right traits, the Asgrow's handy 6-page category reports provide an overview of each category as well as detailed information on product attributes, grading, handling, storage requirements, PLU codes, and packaging. Favorite Asgrow varieties are mentioned by name. It also includes a useful availability map of major production areas in North America.

"By promoting consistent quality across the production and distribution chain, we will better satisfy the consumer and maintain the growth we've seen in recent years," Zanoni concluded. "These reports are part of that effort."

Other reports available from Asgrow cover: field-grown tomatoes, western-shipper cantaloupes and fresh market cucumbers. For free copies fax Leo Zanoni at (616)372-7306 or leo.zanoni@svseeds.com

Asgrow Vegetable Seeds, a Seminis Inc. business, develops and markets over 1000 vegetable variety choices in 108 countries. Worldwide headquarters are based in Saticoy, California.
