Simplot Turf and Horticulture, a global leader in turfgrass seeds and fertilizer, recently named Chris Claypool as senior vice president of marketing in the Jacklin SeedÒ business unit.

Joining the J.R. Simplot Company in 1993, Claypool most recently served as international manager, a position he held since 1996. His first responsibilities for the company were as an international sales representative. In the course of his work for Simplot Turf and Horticulture, Claypool has done business in more than 60 countries and has traveled to 27 countries in the last seven years. "He will now provide more support to our growth in the United States. We welcome his many talents," says Hiromi Yanagisawa, president of Jacklin.

In 1992 Claypool earned a bachelor’s degree in international studies and Spanish from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

In the fall of 1997, the J.R. Simplot Company acquired Jacklin Seed Company, one of the largest turfgrass seed providers in the world. This was a significant alliance and initiated the formation of Simplot Turf and Horticulture. This association has brought together Jacklin SeedÒ , Medalist AmericaÒ , Jacklin GolfÒ , BESTÒ and APEXÒ professional fertilizers, as well as an International Division.
