July 1, 1999John T. Fowler, Jr. has
joined Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company as
transgenic efficacy coordinator. He will be responsible for establishing and analyzing
field trials for evaluating the efficacy of all new transgenic traits in Stoneville
varieties and germplasm.
Fowler has a bachelor's degree in Biology from Francis Marion University, Florence, S.C.,
and a master's degree in agronomy from Clemson University.
"John's focused education and research experience while at Clemson are hard to come
by," said Don Panter, Stoneville vice president of research and development.
"His knowledge and research of transgenic cultivars and weed control make him a great
addition to our team. We are happy to have him joining us at Stoneville."
Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company is the second largest breeder, producer and marketer of
cotton planting seeds in the United States, with seed production facilities in Arizona,
Mississippi and Texas and research and development sites in Arizona, California, Georgia,
Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and South Africa. Stoneville has been breeding cotton since
1922 and is respected worldwide for its contributions to the cotton industry, including
introduction of the world's first genetically engineered cottonseed.
