Biostatistician/Plant-Breeder for Automation of Marker Data Analysis in Sugarbeet Breeding

Location: Einbeck, Germany

Our core markets are in the temperate climate zones of Europe, North and South America as well as China.

We are seeking at the earliest opportunity a

Biostatistician/Plant-Breeder (m/f) for automation of marker data analysis in sugarbeet breeding

in a permanent position on a full-time basis.
You are able to collect requirements for automated analysis of molecular marker data and develop software tools as a member of the sugarbeet breeding team.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Collect requirements for data analysis in molecular plant breeding
  • Join activities on concepts for storage and analysis of big data
  • Software development for automation of workflows
  • Continuous check of new external software tools
  • Interaction with activities within the KWS R&D network
  • Participation in scientific meetings and workshops
  • Support in breeding projects with marker application

Your profile:

  • PhD or MSc in plant science or statistics with focus on data management and statistics
  • Experience in data management and programming (e.g. R or VB, C++, Python)
  • Know how in process optimization
  • Knowledge in genetics and application of molecular markers
  • Knowledge in plant or animal breeding
  • Team player and excellent communication skills
  • Very good English language skills and basic German preferred
  • Reasoning power and self-initiative
  • Willingness to take on responsibility for personnel development
