POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION: Reports to the Plant Pathologist

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Assisting with research and routing disease testing tasks.

TARGET START DATE: March 2016

Summary of responsibilities:

1. Assisting with experiments/trials initiated by Plant Pathologist and Asst. Plant Pathologist.
2. Documenting and reporting research results.
3. Assisting with implementation of protocols, methods and techniques.
4. Other duties.

Brief description of responsibilities and duties:

1. Assisting with experiments/trials initiated by Plant Pathologist and Asst. Plant Pathologist.
   • Assisting with organizing and planning experiments and tests.
   • Carrying out experiments/tests such that results are available in a correct and timely fashion.
2. Documenting and reporting research results.
   • Evaluating tests/experiments and documenting results.
   • Reporting or discussing test results with (Asst.) Plant Pathologist.
3. Assisting with implementation of protocols, methods and techniques.
   • Assisting Asst. Plant Pathologist and/or Pathologist with transfer and implementation of developed technologies to the routine laboratories.
4. Other duties.
   • Carrying out all (project) activities as may be required to assist the (Asst.) Plant Pathologist including sanitation, culture and plant maintenance, and data entry.
   • Keeping up to date with professional literature.
   • Other duties as assigned,

JOB PROFILE:

Education / knowledge

• 1-2 years of lab/pathology experience, supplemented with professionally oriented training courses. Bachelor’s degree a plus.

Skills

• Professional, assertive and clear communication skills (verbal and written).
• Capable of handling numerical data.

• Shows personal initiative, is flexible and pragmatic, and able to portray and promote a positive image of the company’s vision, mission and values.

Independence

• Performs the job / duties independently as much as possible, under the responsibility of the Plant Pathologist.

• Contacts are mainly internal.

Working conditions

• Sometimes works under pressure in greenhouses or laboratories.
