Australia - Seminis’ Orange Candy melon proves itself with consumers

Australia
March 30, 2020

Since 2017, Rapisarda Farms have led the charge in giving consumers what they want in the melon category, with Orange Candy proving itself a hit, thanks to its sherbert-like taste and crispy texture.

Orange Candy is an Amarillo-type melon and has its origins in Seminis’ melon program from Spain.   Trialed extensively throughout Almeria, La Mancha and Murcia, this innovative class of melon was evaluated under Australian conditions and picked up by Rapisarda Farms for local production.

Its smooth, yellow skin is becoming a more common sight in supermarkets and green grocers, meaning Orange Candy is an absolute standout on the shelf.  Its popularity is on the rise too, as more consumers experience this compelling and delicious variety.

In his own words, Sib Rapisarda, the second-generation melon farmer producing Orange Candy in Australia, says he is “passionate about growing the best melons so that consumers have a sensational eating experience, every time”.

Learn more about how Rapisarda Farms are ensuring only safe and quality produce is being packed for consumers. Watch this behind the scenes video or visit the Orange Candy website for great recipes and more.
