USA - 2020 Sustainable Ag Summit to highlight rice biodiversity

Memphis, Tennessee, USA
November 12, 2020

The 2020 Sustainable Agriculture Summit, a joint event put on by Field to Market and the Innovation Center for Sustainable Dairy, will include a virtual session hosted by USA Rice that highlights the biodiversity story of U.S. rice production.

The session, scheduled for 12:30p.m. CT on November 19, will focus on the symbiotic relationship between farming rice and providing habitat for all kinds of wildlife including ducks, waterbirds, salmon, and crawfish.  Dr. Steve Linscombe will moderate the session, joined by Leo LaGrande, a rice farmer from Williams, California; Dr. Sammy King from the U.S. Geological Survey; and Dr. Ellen Herbert from Ducks Unlimited.

“The Sustainable Ag Summit showcases the important role the U.S. rice industry plays in sustainable agriculture as well as providing a front row seat to what is happening next in sustainability across a number of crops,” said Mark Isbell, a farmer in England, Arkansas, who is on the board of Field to Market and has attended the conference for the past few years.  “This year’s free registration for farmers plus the virtual platform provides a unique opportunity for more of our industry to participate.”

The 2020 Sustainable Ag Summit is November 19-20 and is completely virtual.  Registration is free for farmers and students, and $150 for non-farmer participants.  Go here to register and for more information on the conference.
