Japan - BASF launches Onecide P EC to offer soybean growers holistic solutions for systematic weed control

Tokyo, Japan
February 16, 2021

  • BASF to begin sales of Onecide P on February 16
  • Further expand its soybean herbicide portfolio

BASF will add Onecide P to its portfolio of herbicides for soybean farmers, after formalizing an agreement with ISK BIOSCIENCES K.K.. Sales of Oncecide P will commence on February 16, 2021.

Onecide P is a selective foliar herbicide containing the active ingredient fluazifop-P, which provides excellent control of annual and perennial grass weeds. Key benefits for farmers include:

  • excellent crop selectivity, with no damage to broadleaf crops.
  • quick absorption by weeds from stems and leaves, with excellent rain fastness.
  • good systemic activity to ensure weeds are controlled down to the root.
  • effective against large grass weeds such as Japanese pampas grass, Cogongrass, and Johnson       grass (sorghum) from abroad.

BASF already provides soybean farmers with a number of effective weed control solutions – including  Basta®, Prowl® Plus EC, Fieldstar® P EC, Powergizer® SL and BASF Daizu Basagran® SL. With the addition of Onecide P, BASF now offers a complete range of herbicides for all stages of soybean cultivation from pre-planting to harvest.

"As the types and characteristics of weeds vary from place to place, it is necessary to customize solutions for each region. BASF leverages its broad product portfolio to offer holistic weed control solutions tailored to the needs of local and individual soybean growers," said Shinsuke Noda, Vice Director, Marketing, Agricultural Solutions, BASF Japan.
