Bejo completely switches to improved sustainable seed coating

Warmenhuizen, The Netherlands
May 4, 2021

"The new coating is made of natural materials that decompose completely"

As a leading breeder of vegetable seeds, Bejo is continually looking for ways to remain innovative and to ensure our customers receive only our best quality seeds. Therefor we are proud to announce that all Bejo coated seeds are now processed with the improved sustainable coating.

Since 2018, we have been introducing the new sustainable coating in stages. We started with beetroot seed, and last year our organic and non-chemically treated seed followed. Now, finally all conventional seeds are also processed with the new sustainable coating.

The new coating is made of natural materials that decompose completely. The coating has a shorter drying time, which helps to preserve the seed’s vitality and cuts energy use. The coating is approved by the organic certification bodies.

Depending on law and regulations, active substances can be added to the coating to help protect the seedling in the first stage of life.
