Syngenta Seeds’ “eat-it-all” cauliflower, the iStem, awarded the bronze trophy in Fruit Logistica’s prestigious Innovation Awards
Blumenkohl iStem gewinnt Bronze

Basel, Switzerland

>> Blumenkohl iStem gewinnt Bronze

Syngenta Seeds’ “eat-it-all” cauliflower, the iStem®, was awarded the bronze trophy in Fruit Logistica’s prestigious Innovation Awards this year. iStem is the most recent in a pipeline of prize-winning innovations: both the YOOM® tomato and Angello® seedless snack pepper have won the gold Fruit Logistica Innovation Award in previous years. Fruit Logistica is the worldwide leading trade show for the global fresh produce industry.

iStem is unique as the first edible stem cauliflower. It has the benefit of a high yield for growers, and appeals to consumers with its sweet, nutty curds, high fiber and immune-boosting vitamin C, and can be eaten whole with no preparation – thus reducing food waste.

Syngenta Vegetable Seeds attended Fruit Logistica 2022

Syngenta Vegetable Seeds attended Fruit Logistica 2022 edition in Berlin and displayed our latest innovations on our booth. One of them, iStem, won the Bronze Innovation award. Another successful edition !

This latest innovation highlights Syngenta Vegetable Seeds’ commitment to place growers and sustainability at the heart of everything we do, leveraging our agile, science-based agronomic solutions to create sustainable crops, while anticipating consumer preferences and market trends.

Syngenta Vegetable Seeds continues to be a leader with its pipeline of innovative varieties. Many exciting highlights were on display at Fruit Logistica, including:

  • Our new cucumber portfolio, highly resistant to diseases and ensuring high yield and quality;
  • Romaine lettuce SolidRib, bringing value from field to shelf, longer lasting, crunchy texture and sweet flavour;
  • Romolo and Piel de Sapo firm and juicy personal size melons;
  • Leading tomato assortments, from baby plum and cherry on the vine varieties, as well as our varieties resistant to the devastating brown rugose virus;
  • Peppers: ranging from sweet and seedless mini peppers to best quality blocky peppers.

After two years of the pandemic and amidst growing concerns around global food security and climate change, we had many fruitful discussions with our partners about how we can support them to make the best decisions and offer them solutions for regenerative agriculture. Based on the theme “meet on site again,” the event in Berlin showed the importance of gathering in person. Farmers, traders, retailers and our key partners were able to see, taste and feel our vegetables.

We would like to thank our customers and Messe Berlin for a fruitful event!

Don’t forget to save the date for next years’ edition: 8-10 February 2023.
