ANSWERS

About one out of two people in the world today live on less than $2 a day while about 1 billion people live on less than $1 a day. Many of these people are hungry and do not have enough money to buy the food they need. Food aid is essential in famine situations, but is not a good long term solution to hunger.

We believe that by providing poor people throughout the world with good seed and needed training to grow food we can help accomplish the following:

  • Reduce hunger.

  • Improve nutrition by having people grow vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals that     are missing in many poor people’s diets.

  • Reduce poverty by having people spend less on purchasing food and possibly even having some food to sell.

  • Improve self esteem and character by having people help themselves reducing their dependency on donated food.

  • Provide skills that can be useful for a lifetime. This is especially true when children are taught to grow food.
