The Kamterter technology enhances
Sakata's varieties |
The SMP(R) Process technology on several major agronomic
crops, will work together to improve and expand the utilization of SMP process.
Kamnterter II and Sakata each have many years of experience
developing and utilizing priming. |
Both companies have used this
experience to produce superior primed seed products for vegetable and flower growers. Sakata has tested many dfferent flower and
vegetable species and foresees great priming potential on a multitude of crops. Among the
benefits for growers are improved germination and increased stand establishment, vigor,
and overall stand uniformity.
Solid Matrix Primed seeds from Sakata will offer a superb
alternative to growers who are looking at utilizing enhanced seed for the first time. Growers already using enhanced seed products, but not SMP process, will
realize added benefits with the SMP process.
According to Paul Bennett, Executive Vice President
for Sakata Seed America, "The SMP process will enhance Sakata's vegetable and flower
products giving growers superior varieties for their markets." |
Sakata has also acquired a license to the registered U.S.
trademark SMP. In the interest of the company and its customers, Sakata plans active
enforcement of legitimate use of the patent rights and this trademark.
Sakata is supporting this acquisition with the
construction of a 28,000 square foot facility in Morgan Hill, California.
The new facility is designed for pelleting, priming
and seed enhancement, and includes a standard germination laboratory.
This state-of-the-art facility will support Sakata's market
expansion of the superior SMP process.
