Sakata Seed America, Inc. acquires the onion program of Shamrock Seed Co.
Salinas, California

Sakata broadens its genetic position to include the Short Day and Intermediate Day Onion Market.

Sakata Seed America has acquired Shamrock' s Onion Program and foreign distribution rights.

Shamrock will maintain exclusive distribution in Canada, the United States,
and Mexico on all commercial, pre-commercial, and current advanced experimental onion lines.




Sakata will take over Shamrock's onion distribution outside the above mentioned territory as well as the direction and efforts of the research program.

Shamrock's onion program was founded in 1984 and was broadened by the acquisition of the Nickerson-Zwaan onion program in 1989.

The onion program is focused on short day and intermediate day onions, with emphasis on disease resistance breeding.
