Agriculture Victoria Services Pty. Ltd. (Attwood, Victoria) and
Genetic Technologies Ltd. (Fitzroy,
Victoria) are pleased to announce the formation of a joint venture,
AgGenomics, to offer commercial plant genomics services.
AgGenomics brings together the expertise of one of the pre-eminent plant
genomics research groups in Australia and the strong commercial track
record of Genetic Technologies Limited, one of the top 20 listed biotech
companies on the Australian Stock Exchange and the leader in the field
of human genotyping.
Initially, AgGenomics will focus on provision of plant genomics services
in collaboration with Professor German Spangenberg's Plant Biotechnology
Centre, Bundoora, Victoria, an Institute of Agriculture Victoria, NRE.
Professor Spangenberg has been appointed as the Managing Director (R&D)
and Dr. Glenn Tong as the Managing Director (Commercial).
AgGenomics utilises state of the art technology platforms for high
throughput gene sequencing and genotyping, bioinformatics and
microarrays.
Combined with the enabling technologies which have been developed by
Professor Spangenberg's research team, AgGenomics is able to provide a
unique service in the plant genomics area.
An important fundamental difference between AgGenomics and generic
facilities which offer routine gene sequencing and genotyping services
is our ability to interact closely with the customer to provide an
integral package from the very first step of experiment design to the
very last step of interpretation and utilisation of data.
Genetic Technologies has over 10 years of experience in the provision of
commercial genotyping services in the human identity testing area. The
Plant Biotechnology Centre has a well proven and established track
record in working with government and industry partners in projects with
commercial imperatives. As such, AgGenomics offers a unique combination
of technical and commercial expertise. |
