Meristem Therapeutics
is a biotechnology company and a leader in the production of therapeutic
recombinant proteins, in plants, for the pharmaceutical industry. The
market is estimated to be worth € 25 billion (source: Datamonitor,

Founded in December 1997
to implement the plant genetics program, Molecular Pharming®,
initiated in 1992 by the LIMAGRAIN
Group (4th largest seed producer worldwide), MERISTEM®
THERAPEUTICS raised € 9 million from the BANEXI Group, 3I, SOFIMAC and
SOFIPAR in January 1999. A further € 10 million were raised in May-June
2000, from shareholder venture capital companies, new financial
investors, the management and personnel.
The company employs 85
people of whom 56 scientists. The headquarters, pilot production plant
and research laboratories are located in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The
company also has subsidiaries in Burgundy, France, and Florida, USA.
