Salary Range: $118,670.00 to $172,500.00/ Per Year
The National Clonal Germplasm Repository (NCGR) for Tree Fruits, Nut Crops, and Grapes, in Davis, California, CA is seeking a Supervisory Research Horticulturist / Geneticist (Plants) / Plant Pathologist. As a Supervisory Research Leader (RL), the selectee will lead a team that is responsible for optimizing the repository's collection of diverse tree fruit and nut crops using various scientific methods. Performs evaluation/characterization of fruit and nut crop accessions. Determines optimal clonal propagation and seed regeneration, active germplasm back-up for preservation, and effective genetic resource maintenance. Responsible for maintaining and enhancing creativity and productivity of the repository genebanks. Serves as unit fund holder and provides internal and external technical information and consultation. Conceives, plans, and directs the research or is actively involved with the planning along with others. Hires personnel and manages human, fiscal, and physical resources. Exercises line authority over the Unit’s scientists and support personnel. Ensures the proper interpretation and reporting of scientific research results and information.
