Testing Operations Manager

Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Testing Operations Manager position in Haskell, TX. In this role you will be primarily responsible for day to day operations of Monsanto’s research station including recruitment, retention, training, development of regular full time and temporary personnel, as well as budget and capital project management. The Testing Operations Manager will organize, plant, measure, harvest and record information on new experimental cotton varieties and advanced cotton breeding lines in Texas, and communicate regularly with cotton breeders and managers.
Key Business Accountabilities:
• Ensure all staff is trained in ESH procedures for safe operation of the research program.
• Acquire and maintain adequate facilities and equipment for efficient program function and oversee a testing program to develop improved Cotton varieties.
• Ensure that all regulatory and compliance protocols are followed.
• Develop general product knowledge of Cotton varieties grown in Texas and provide input on the product development process for the region.
• Persevere in obtaining results, act in an ethical manner in all business transactions (in compliance with Monsanto's code of business conduct), and maintain a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
Core Business / Functional Skills and Education:
• BS in Agronomy or related field of study and 5+ years of agricultural research experience.
• 3+ years experience as a people manager to enable management of all day-to-day site operations.
• Ability to accurately forecast/manage budgets and capital expenditures.
• Knowledge of basic statistics and experimental design principles.
• Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices.
• Be a self-starter with team leadership, organizational and record-keeping skills; the ability to foster a positive team environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills related to data acquisition, organization, and data analysis. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• The ability to pass a DOT physical and drug test.
Desired Skills / Experience
• MS in Agronomy or related field of study and 8+ years of agricultural research experience.
• 5+ years experience as a people manager for site operations.
• Ability to accurately forecast/manage budgets and capital expenditures.
• Class A CDL or have the ability to obtain one.
• Experience with farm equipment operation/repair and managing cotton plots.
• Experience in managing and implementing regulated field trials.
