Molecular Biologist Intern

Location: Woodland, California, USA

Twenty years from now, the earth’s population will need 55% more food than it can currently produce. Today, Monsanto is working with farmers around the world to do something about it. Make an impact by joining the team that is working to solve one of mankind’s greatest challenges.
The Molecular Biology team in Woodland, California is seeking a summer intern to work with our research team.  This opportunity includes responsibilities in providing assistance in the molecular evaluation of tissue and cell samples from plants.
 
Candidates should have experience in basic laboratory techniques and be dependable, detail-oriented and flexible. 
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • DNA, RNA or protein extraction from biological samples
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • Performing PCR
  • DNA cloning
  • Some plant care

Dates for this summer internship are May 15 - August 4, 2017. 

Requirements:
  • Current enrollment at a university within the U.S. pursuing a B.S. degree in Biological or Plant Sciences
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Candidate must be returning to school to continue program of study following completion of the internship
