Breeder position at Rijk Zwaan

You are part of a specialist team who work on the breeding programmes. This function makes you co-responsible for the development of new varieties for several international markets. You manage and guide the work on generating varieties, creating and selecting the parental lines and testing the trial hybrids. You will gain market knowledge and use it to align the breeding programmes with the demands of the market. 

Apart from working in your own team, you also work closely with research departments, such as phytopathology and molecular biology. Other departments you collaborate intensively with are crop maintenance, production, product development and commerce.

What we are looking for?

You have a passion for and long-term vision on working in plant breeding profession. You are enthusiastic and have the ability to work independently in your own field but also enjoy working and sharing as part of a team. You have an innovative mindset to create new ideas for continous improvement. You have good communication skills with internal and external parties and make decisions in good consultation. You work with good planning, organisation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Plus we look for the following in your CV:

• an Agricultural, Biology or relevant university degree, with a good understanding of plant breeding and genetics, possibly done a MSc or a PhD
• preferably experience in plant breeding
• advanced level of English and preferably also the Turkish language
• willingness to travel
