PSR Global Genetics LLC expands inbred development

Sugar Grove, Illinois, USA
December 4, 2009

PSR Global Genetics LLC has doubled its production of corn inbred lines in 2009 to meet the increase in global demand of independent germplasm. Temperate, tropical and semi-tropical inbreds are being developed from the PSR Global Genetics program.

The company’s Rapid Inbreeding® technology produces thousands of inbred lines in just one year. “The technology cost significantly less than haploid breeding methods and works with any population, not being limited to genetic backgrounds,” states Dr. Jim Dodd, CEO. “We continue to be encouraged by this methodology, Rapid Inbreeding® has the power to build breeding programs very quickly by developing inbreds adapted to current commercial environments.” Says Dr. Dodd.

PSR Global Genetics proprietary germplasm is tested in many locations throughout the U.S., South America, and parts of Europe. The company plans on expanding its testing of tropical material in Asia next year.

PSR Global Genetics, LLC was formed in 2006 as an independent corn genetics provider to the US seed and biotech industries. Today, PSR Global Genetics has partnerships with North America, South America and Europe.
