COGGO Seeds to release new albus lupin and new desi chickpea

Australia
June 2010

COGGO Seeds and DAFWA expect to release a new albus lupin, WALAB2014, later this year. WALAB2014 should have yield and disease resistance advantages over Andromeda.
Seed is currently being bulked and it is likely the variety will be officially launched later this year. The variety originates from the DAFWA/COGGO albus lupin breeding program
led by Dr Kedar Adhikari.

COGGO Seeds also expects to release a new desi chickpea, WACPE2136, later this year.
WACPE2136 has yielded well across a range of sites and has better ascochyta blight resistance than many older varieties. It also appears to have good milling quality.

This variety originated from a joint program between COGGO, DAFWA, UWA and ICRISAT, which is led by Dr Tanveer Khan of DAFWA. WACPE2136 is being fast tracked for commercial release, with seed being bulked up in Kununurra
