United Kingdom - Germains Seed Technology attends the British Beet Research Organisation’s winter technical updates

United Kingdom
February 19, 2016

From the 2nd to the 5th February Germains attended the winter British Beet Research Organisation’s (BBRO) technical updates at each of the four factory areas in Cambridge (Bury St Edmunds), Norwich (Cantley), Peterborough (Wissington) and Lincoln (Newark).

BBRO Winter Meetings

The technical updates offered an exciting insight into the latest research in development, concerning strip tillage and fertiliser and nutrient placement work, storability as well as opportunities to improve the recovery and quality of seed. This included an update on the research by the University of Nottingham in partnership with the BBRO. The project involves three interrelated projects: the evaluation and mitigation of limitations to water uptake, the identification of rooting traits for optimal nutrient uptake and improvement of crop establishment and early growth. The aim of these projects is to enhance understanding of soil plant interactions to improve sugar beet productivity.

The meetings also provided a valuable opportunity for our representatives to speak with industry experts, PhD students and growers on the exciting developments that aid the development of the UK Sugar Beet crop.

Please follow the link below for more information regarding the British Beet Research Organisation (BBRO) and we look forward to meeting at the summer open days in June later this year.
