Hazera puts partnership first at Fruit Logistica 2017

Made, The Netherlands
January 31, 2017

Leading vegetable seed company Hazera will be present at Fruit Logistica, one of the biggest events in the fresh produce business, held from February 8th to February 10th in the Messe exhibition center in Berlin, Germany. The company is continuously working on new products and a selection of them will be on show. Hazera’s main focus will be on Partnerships.

One of the important objectives set by the company is delivering superior value all along the chain, through dedicated vegetable variety breeding and active support. Hazera has always been aware that success can never be created alone and has always kept very close contacts with growers. Also in the more downstream fresh produce supply chain it is actively looking for partners to create success together.

Since the start of this approach, several partnerships have taken shape, resulting in products brought to the markets that satisfy consumers’ needs. In such projects, Hazera stays close to its particular expertise, being breeding and genetics, and integrates the expertise of others in the approach. As Mr. Piet van Liere, one of the world’s most important onion exporters from Holland, states: “Good genetics are the foundation on which we have built our partnership with Hazera. Open communication, trust and sharing insights are the key factors for a successful partnership and for successful products.” Similar story at the other side of the globe according to Hazera’s New Zealand distributor Mr. Steve McArthur: “Hazera’s breeders put a strong focus on the requirements of the retailer and consumer which has put Hazera as onion market leaders in New Zealand with high quality long storage varieties such as Tilbury or Rhinestone.”

Expertise, good listening, understanding and perseverance were the most important elements in the creation of Hazera’s new tasty tomato Goutine. Add an expert grower such as Stoffels from Belgium and you have the solid foundation for success: now the Goutine tomato can be found in the shelves of leading supermarkets throughout Europe. An example of great partnership.

Also in watermelon, Hazera noticed new needs in the market, for a smaller sized, more convenient product, with a long shelflife, high sweetness, crispiness, firmness and good yields for the growers. So again the company went looking for partnerships to make this come true, and found Mr. Raymundo Soto Sau (picture) of Agricola El Tejaban from Mexico who puts it as follows: “Hazera is a company that keeps on launching successful varieties! It provides us with strong support, which has turned into a fruitful partnership, assisting us in achieving great results.” Once the partnership was established, varieties Mielhart and Ocelot swiftly found their way through the fresh produce supply chain to delight consumers worldwide.

Of course we could cite more examples, but the message is clear: next steps in quality and innovation and even “game changers” arise from thorough and well-understood cooperation based on trust and exchange. And on the will to invest in those.

The new range and partners will be presented at our stand in Fruit Logistica 2017 in Berlin. Visitors are welcome to meet our team and to explore new opportunities at stand C-23 in hall 3.2. You can also call Lando van Doorn, tel. +31 6 3465 8520 or Arjan van Steekelenburg, tel. +31 6 4248 0735.
