Growing industry knowledge through hands-on experience at StineĀ®

From Red Oak, Iowa, Lydon is studying ag business at Des Moines Area Community College. Through her coursework, she connected with Stine® Seed Company’s internship program. Like many students entering the industry, she came in with a foundation but wanted to better understand what agriculture looks like day to day at a leading corn and soybean company.

This semester, she’s been getting that experience firsthand.

Lydon has spent time in the field working across plots, participating in soil sampling and gaining insight into the details behind agronomic decision-making. She’s also experienced the business side of the industry, interacting with customers, learning how relationships are built and seeing how communication plays a role in every part of the operation.

“Everyone here has been easy to work with and willing to teach. It’s been a great experience to see how everything connects, from the field to the customer.”

Addey Lydon

That exposure has only reinforced what she already suspected.

“I want to stay on this path in agriculture,” she says. “I’ve really enjoyed building relationships and communicating with agronomists and other stakeholders.”

Through her internship, Lydon is gaining a clearer picture of where she fits in the industry and the kind of work she wants to pursue moving forward. With an interest in sales and agronomy, she’s continuing to build the skills that will carry her into the next phase of her career.

At Stine, creating opportunities like this is part of our commitment to the future of agriculture, helping the next generation gain real experience, ask questions and find their place in the industry.

We’re glad to have Lydon on the team and look forward to what’s ahead.
