We
then built a worldwide pepper seed production team and infrastructure that
will insure reliable supplies of high quality seed. Now that we’ve
developed the marketing support to launch these exciting new products, we
can put them into the hands of growers.
The lead products
have already generated a lot of enthusiasm with growers. Sakata’s green
to red blocky bell pepper, SPP 6112 is notable for its wide range of
adaptation from Florida to California and Mexico. The extra large and
large fruit have been smooth, well shaped, and nicely colored. Yields have
been high. Additionally, SPP 6112 features resistance to BLS 1,2,3.

Sakata’s hot jalapeno, SPP 7603, is notable for its BLS 1,2,3
resistance as well as high yields of large fruit borne on a compact plant.
SPP 7603 is earlier than other varieties, rarely shows any fruit purpling,
and is especially well suited to areas having warm or hot temperatures and
high humidity.
Sakata’s poblanos
SPP 7501 and 7502, are highly productive and have larger, nicer looking
fruit than the standard open pollinated varieties. The plants are
vigorous, erect, sturdy, and the fruits ripen to an attractive red.
Mexican food lovers will really appreciate these new ones.

We have several more exciting products, such as SPP 7117, SPP 7118, SPP
8124, SPP 8125, and others in all stages of our development pipeline that
will round out our pepper product line. We’re sure that pepper growers
will want to try Sakata’s new peppers on their own farms to compare with
what they’re growing now. We will have a good supply of seed available
for fall and spring planting, so it’s up to you to contact us or your
dealer regarding your needs.
We’re sure you’ll be as excited as we are about our new peppers.
